“near south beach, no south beach price!”
Reviewed May 10, 2013- TripAdvisor

The hotel is excellent! The location is superb! Right across the street is the beach with free-of-charge loungechairs (parasol is $10) and only a 10 minute bus/taxidrive ($2 for the bus/around $10 for taxi). The rooms are big, all provided with a ceiling fan, air conditioning, comfortable bed and a really nice bathroom with a walk inn shower. The rooms are (I guess) recently renovated. The only thing is that the room looks a bit empty and boring (a painting on the wall would be nice, this doesn’t affect the comfort, just the appearance). The pool has a reasonable size and there are some loungechairs and cabana’s. The breakfast is simple but it did the job. Toast, eggs, sausages, coffee and so on is unlimited and the quality is good! Service at the front desk is ok, not super helpfull (besides of the concierge!) but friendly. Compared to other hotels in this area, Circa 39 offers (without a doubt!!!) the best price/quality! If you don’t want a bus/taxidrive and stay directly on Ocean drive .. be stupid and pay the money! Otherwise, just stay at Circa 39.

This is a very nice hotel with cool pool and shaded areas. This is just across the street from the beach but next to Collins ave which is a busy road. The rooms were of a good size and the bathrooms were very nice. The hotel breakfast was well worth the 10 dollars and the staff were extremely pleasant.

This charming hotel is a throwback to the days of Miami and Cuba during the art deco era of 30s and 40′s. Remodeled well, the rooms are nice, cool and quiet. The location couldn’t be better, and the building itself is a modest size where you can keep track of everything around you. The staff here is professional, courteous, knowledgeable, helpful and charming. I would even venture to say that they made my stay absolutely a pleasure. if you like the idea of discovering places just off the beaten path and getting to know the people along the way. Then this place is the ticket. I would not only recommend this hotel to all my friends but I will definitely be returning here my next time in Miami. 5 STARS!

“Really Good. Cannot find a genuine fault with this hotel”

This hotel is privately owned. You do not have to take on a huge corporate infrastructure to deal with your booking. You deal directly with a person at the hotel. I requested early check in. My room was ready on arrival. Rooms are immaculate. Bright, tastefully decorated in soothing colours, with shuttered windows. The air conditioning is easy to operate and effective, as is the coffee maker, the television. The free internet service was glitch free. The bedding was high quality, and the mattress was exceptionally good and exceptionally comfortable. The room was bright and airey, spacious and comfortable with adequate closet space and a safe. The bathroom was delightful. Clean. Freshly fitted out with a good shower and the bonus of a hand shower also. Hot water supply was never an issue, and toiletries, towells etc were refreshed each day, and all of good quality. Staff were friendly. This is a fairly small hotel, so service was fast and personal. The pool area was beautiful and a pleasant haven. The hotel is about 150 yards walk from the beach.  The lobby is interesting with an intimate bar and a breakfast room. A cafe and mini market is next door to the hotel, and this also has an ATM machine for convenience. The hotel is on 39th street, so little more than a 5 minute drive from the centre of the South Beach action and roadside cafes and bars. Traffic was never an issue. Drop off and collection at the hotel is easy with a loading bay right out front, and a taxi rank opposite the hotel had a ready supply of cabs 24/7. The hotel has parking available. It is pricey at $20 per day, but less pricey than most other hotels in the same area. On check in, the staff at the hotel were decent enough to explain that street parking was available from 8am until 6pm daily for $1 an hour, and was free from 6pm until 8am. The very fact that they offered me a cheaper alternative made me choose to use their service for some of my stay. It is rare to experience such a level of fair play from front-desk staff, and it is certainly something in the hotel’s favour. Street parking did not prove to be difficult. Whenever a space was not available, a beachside lot was 4 short blocks walk from the hotel with adequate space. I travel a lot and would consider this hotel to be one of the most pleasant hotels I have ever stayed in.

This place is a nice little gem in the Miami Beach area. Although not very close to the action, this hotel was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet wasn’t the best but served its purpose. This hotel looks to have just been remodeled and had the smell of new paint in the air. Rooms are small as is the bathroom but had new fixtures and the hardwood flooring was a nice touch. Front desk staff couldn’t have been more friendly to us. Would I come back to this place? Yes.

We could not find accomodations on south beach. And for the first time discovered north beach and circa 39. What a cool find, Small pool, but active. A couple of really good restaurants. Two blocks walk to the beach. A little calmer than the south beach area. Which is really nice. And a short drive away to the action – which is also nice. Parking is easy. The rooms are modern and updated, very cool and chic. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Thanks

Small hotel in South Beach. Clean and comfortable. Under renovation but still a great place to stay. No carpeting in the rooms can get noisy if your upstairs neighbor is not considerate. The Bar tender Jorge makes you feel like family.

We couldn’t fault our stay. The staff were all very friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. Our room didn’t have a view but this didnt distract from the stay. I would suggest they change the handles on the drawers as I caught my clothes on them when passing. The breakfast was a bonus and set us up for the day. Beach only 2 mins walk away with free sunchair and hotel beach towels. The main shops and South Beach life is quite a walk away but very pleasant along the boardwalk. Frequent buses for the trip back with a standard $2 fare, bus drivers do not change money so make sure you have the correct fare. The bus takes you all the way to Aventura Mall which has all the main shops. The bar and restaurant in the hotel are small but very accommodating, the Spinach soup is grand. Overall a great place to stay.

We stayed for 3 nights over here in Miami . The best part of the hotel is definitely the location . Just in less than one minute, you can reach the beach and there in you have your beach chairs provided by the hotel . The hotel staff was nice. The rooms were regularly cleaned. We did not face any problem over here . The only thing was the room was small , however considering the charges , i would say it was what we were paying for . One of the striking features of the hotel is the interior decor ,It is really cool .

Find it hard to believe that anyone could not give this hotel an “excellent” rating. We thought it was AMAZING! Our room was immaculate, looked like it had just been refurbished, with all the extras you would expect from a more expensive hotel. Staff were super efficient and friendly, and the decor was simply “WOW” we loved all the quirky contemporary touches. Pool area was elegant and quiet, lovely for a late night swim. Breakfast, which was included in our low rate, was relaxed and delicious. I would highly recommend this stunning, fresh, boutique hotel, and wouldn’t hesitate to book again if I was returning to Miami. A big THANK YOU to the Circa 39, best hotel on our Florida road trip!

I read many mixed reviews….let me start by saying that we are staying in one of the newlying renovated rooms on the third floor. They are currently renovating the second floor now. There is a lot of banging and construction sounds starting about 9 am….that being said. I am not sure how you can make something better without construction sounds….so, I don’t fault the hotel for that. The rooms are very nice. Hard wood floors and of course art deco style. Small but efficient. Clean….nothing to complain about. The pool area is small but very cozy. The bartender Jorge is very pleasant and makes a great mojito….not too sweet. Location is good. About a 20 min walk to the main drag. $10 cab ride. The beach is right across the street and a lovely place to spend the afternoon. I would stay here again no doubt!

We absolutely LOVED this small hotel. It is charming, very clean, with a pool and close to everything. The Beach is just across the road. There is a small cafe – mini market in the next building. To go to South Beach or Ocean Drive you just need to take a bus on Indian Creek, which is just one block from Circa. Buses pass every 10 mins and cost 2$. The rooms are beautifully renovated with a big walk-in closet. Beds comfortable. Wi-Fi is free. Aveda toiletries. Beach towels and beach chaira included. Wonderful Experience!

“Loved the courtyard!!!”
Reviewed May 19, 2012 – TripAdvisor

Nice location, reasonable price, friendly staff. We stayed here in April: 2 adults and 2 teens. Room was a little cramped, but we were right off of the shaded, spacious courtyard complete with canopied beds and cushy chairs. The hotel is across the street from the beach. Beach was great – wide and not too crowded. Only complaint is we only got 2 complimentary chairs with the room and the wanted $10 a day extra for each of the kids! Parking, too, was extra. We could have driven around and found metered parking for less but it was too much of a hassle. Hotel had a lovely lobby and a pleasant small pool. We had coffee every morning in the lobby and it was very nice. There’s also a small market a block away where you could stock up on waters, sodas, snacks, etc. All in all, a really pleasant place. We’d wrestled with whether to stay in South Beach or Miami Beach and opted for the later – I’m glad we did. We did go down to South Beach to eat and that was fun but it was nice to be in a quieter locale come the end of the day. I would definitely stay here again.

“Loved this boutique hotel”
Reviewed April 10, 2012 – TripAdvisorI loved this hotel and it was a great value. My friend in Miami said there at lots of old boutique hotels in Miami Beach / South Beach but a lot are dirty and broken down. Circa 39 is old but they’ve renovated it so it’s very clean and modern looking. I imagine if W bought a hotel from the 30s and repainted everything but kept the original furnishings, this is what it would look like. The room was well appointed with a comfy bed, a huge walk-in closet with a safe and you get nice Aveda toiletries. My room was on the second floor in the back and it was very quiet. The lobby does look like a W Hotel (but white instead of black) and the pool area is nice. Of course, you’re there for the beach and you just walk across the street and you’re at the beach. The hotel provides you with beach towels and they also have a deal with the beach attendant so there’s an area for hotel guests and you get free beach loungers. The parking is outrageously expensive ($26 after tax) but street parking free from 6pm-8am and $1/hr during the day. Of course, it can be hard to find street parking, especially during the day when everyone’s hitting the beach. About location, mid-beach is great if you want things a little quieter and want to enjoy the beach. South Beach is definitely much more happening. The one thing is if you don’t have a car, taking a bus to Miami is really a chore and taxis aren’t cheap either.

Small hotel with rooms within a few feet of the outside. Cross street to beach. 2.35 for a quick bus ride to and from airport. Breakfast no deal but perfectly fine. Plenty of other choices within a block. European style which has put off a few reviewers. Everyone helpful. Been in the area many times. Best to date. Took a prepaid price so about $150 per night in high season. Stayed for 4 days. If you like quiet ask for an inside room.

We stayed at Circa 39 for a couple nights just prior to President’s Day weekend. We had no idea the Miami boat show was going on, so hotels were hard to find. We were very happy with the small boutique hotel with 3 floors. The staff was very helpful and friendly from check-in to check-out. There is a small restaurant on-site and a small bar. The rooms are small but very adequate and the design elements are fresh, clean and modern. This is a renovated property, as many in this area are, and is very charming. Across the street, Carraba’s has a “Tiki Deck” from which you can dine or drink and see the ocean. It is reasonably priced, especially at happy hour and the beach is right out front. This is not one of those mega-properties, but if you are looking for small and charming, this is a good place to find it.

My husband and I stayed a night at Circa 39 Hotel last weekend. Attractive lobby, very convenient location, friendly staff. Our room wasn’t fancy but it was very clean and the bed comfortable. Don’t be put off by the dark old-fashioned elevator. My only suggestions would be the lighting – while attractive, there wasn’t enough light! The halls had blue light which seemed sort of spooky, and there was no where in the room for good make-up application. Our weather was cool so we didn’t use the pool but it looked nice. Enjoyed the beach towels and complimentary beach chairs and short walk to the beach. Convenience store next door had great lattes and sweets for breakfast. I would recommend Circa 39.

My husband and I stayed here Jan. 24 & 25, 2012. Our room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool. The room was a good size, had lots of storage and an extremely comfortable bed. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. The breakfast was excellent value ($9.95), the hot foods were hot not just warm as you sometimes get in a buffet breakfast and there was a good selection of pastries, cereal and breads. The beach was a short few minutes walk. We didn’t have dinner in the hotel but went to a fantastic italian restaurant in the hotel across the street. We found the decor of this hotel very unique and had to smile whenever we got into the ugly red elevator. We would definitly stay at this hotel again.

Just back from the Circa 39 hotel and have to say that it was a very nice stay. The memorable points are that this is a lovely 30s art-deco style property, good location near South Beach, reasonable price in comparison with others. The staff also make a big difference – it’s a family run hotel and everyone was very helpful and friendly – makes a big difference to a stay. The street can be very busy and noisy, not helped by the fact that the property seems to have the original aluminium single-glazed windows…so let a lot of noise in. The Gym is small, however it did the job perfectly well. There is a cross-trainer, treadmill, bike, weights, TV and air-con. In summary, a nice hotel and well done to the owners and staff – your smiles and service make a difference!
